Viola Asri

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Economics at the University of Konstanz. Prior to that, I completed my PhD in the research group on Political Economy and Development at the University of Zurich. I am also affiliated with the Laboratory for Effective Anti-poverty Policies at Bocconi University in Milan.

My research interests are in the areas of Development Economics, Applied Microeconomics and Impact Evaluation Methods. I currently work on factors constraining the effectiveness of social transfers, improving the role of local governments in the implementation of social policies and on harmful social norms such as female genital cutting.

Before my PhD, I have worked as Research Associate in the Indo-German Social Security Programme of the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) and for the Micropension Foundation in New Delhi.
