B.A. Seminar: Development Microeconomics

In this course, we will study microeconomic approaches to the improvement of economic conditions and well-being in low- and middle-income countries, with a focus on causal inference for evaluating outcomes. We will look at a variety of policy domains, including financial well-being, education, health, entrepreneurship, and others, which students can choose according to their own interests. This will prepare students for writing their B.A. thesis, where they will be expected to use Stata to replicate and extend the analysis of a published paper.

In addition to the substantive content, the course will also address the tools of empirical research as well as effective academic writing skills. Weekly office hours will be available for students to discuss their ideas, get feedback, and refine their projects.
