Form of Assessment
The final grade is based on a Midterm Exam (20%) and a Final Exam (80%).
This rule applies only for the first try at the final. If a student fails the final ("Haupttermin"), then the second try (“Nachtermin”) counts 100%. If a student is sick during the first try (“Haupttermin”), then the “Nachtermin” counts as the first try and the 80/20 rule applies. Neither midterm nor final grades are transferred to/from other semesters.
The midterm exam will take place on Friday, 27 May 2022. Participation in the midterm is compulsory, no registration for the midterm is necessary. In case of illness, you have to inform firstname.lastname@example.org informally via email before the midterm exam. If you are absent without valid reason, you obtain a 5.0 for the midterm. Written excuses from a physician have to be handed in at Prof. Pohlmeier’s secretary (Verena Kretz, F329) no later than Wednesday, 1 June 2022, 15:30.
Note that the use of the department’s official form is required:
If you are sick and have a doctoral excuse for the midterm, an oral exam (as a midterm retake) will be held. If you are ill with a doctor’s note during the midterm and the oral midterm retake dates, you cannot take the final exam this year and have to wait for the next year.
