Ukrainian Students and Researchers at the Department of Economics

Thanks to the collaboration with the International Office, the Department of Economics welcomed many Students and Researchers who are in danger or have fled Ukraine over the summer semester 2022 and winter semester 2022/23.

During the summer semester 2022, the University of Konstanz offered various forms of support for Ukraine. In addition to donations- and aid campaigns as well as initiatives, especially the work of the International Office was an important pillar in the efforts the help Ukrainian students and researchers

Through exchange programs, which are financed by the DAAD, as well as various scholarships and grants, many Ukrainian students were enabled to come to the University of Konstanz.

Over the course of the year the International Office was able to extend the students´ period of stay and offer further exchange places for the winter semester 2022/23 to students from our Ukrainian partner universities, the National Taras Shevchenko University in Kyiv and the National Wadym Hetman University of Economics in Kyiv (KNEU). Students who were not enrolled at one of our Ukrainian partner universities could be admitted via an orientation semester or a guest auditor programme.

But not only students were supported: Thanks to the cooperation of the International Office, in particular the Ukraine-Support-Team and the Welcome Centre, with the Department of Economics, it was possible to also receive researchers from Ukraine and accommodate them at our Department.

Through to the long-term collaboration and the valuable contacts with our partner universities as well as the financial support of the DAAD, and through of various projects such as the Ukraine Tutorials, the Seminar #FinancialInnovation in the #DigitalAge, the PAGOSTE and the Ukraine Digital Project we were able to ensure that studying, teaching and learning are still possible even in times of crisis.

We would like to thank the International Office and all those involved for their valuable efforts!
