Graduation ceremony 2014

In 2014, the graduation ceremony took place on 29 November with over 270 former students and guests. After the welcome address by Professor Ulrike Stefani, Head of Department, Dr Ludger Schuknecht gave a guest speech. As Head of the Department of Economic Affairs and International Economic Policy of the Federal Ministry of Finance, he spoke on “Challenges for Europe - Challenges for You”.

Over 80 graduates then received their degree and exam certificates.

The following graduates were awarded the VEUK award for outstanding academic performance:

  • Phillip Heiler (Master of Science in Economics) is now doing his doctorate at the Chair of Economics and specialising in Econometrics (Professor Pohlmeier).
  • Nina Valentina Jehle (Bachelor of Science in Economics) is now a student on the master’s programme in Business and Economics Education, University of Konstanz.
  • Stefan Weber (Bachelor of Science in Economics) is now a student on the master’s programme in Quantitative Finance at the Graduate School of Economics, Finance, and Management, Goethe University, Frankfurt.
  • Theresa Ummenhofer (Bachelor of Science in Economics) is now a student on the master’s programme in Business Administration. Area of specialisation: Accounting & Finance, Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main

Phillip Heiler delivered the address on behalf of the graduates.

Graduation ceremony 2013

About 65 graduates celebrated their graduation with around 160 guests on 23 November.
After the welcome address by Professor Ralf Brüggemann, Head of Department, Dr Claus Knoth delivered the guest lecture. The qualified sinologist and economist is a self-employed business consultant and spoke on the topic of “Why Chinese of all things? - How planning a career is impossible in a dynamic world”.

This year’s VEUK awards were awarded to:

  • Johannes Gerling (Bachelor of Science in Economics)
  • Simon Heß (Master of Science in Economics)
  • Janina Nemitz (Master of Science in Quantitative Economics)
  • Rainer Selinka (Master of Science in Mathematical Finance).

Janina Nemitz delivered the address on behalf of the graduates.

Graduation ceremony, autumn 2012

The autumn graduation ceremony took place on 24 November. Professor Ralf Brüggemann, Head of Department, welcomed the 33 graduates and other guests. The ceremonial speech was given by Dr Erik Lüders (McKinsey & Company, Inc.) on the topic of "Setting off into a volatile world".

This year’s VEUK awards for outstanding academic performance were awarded to:

  • Konstantin von Hesler (Master of Science in Quantitative Economics)
  • Claudine Leonhard (Diploma in Mathematical Finance)

Konstanin von Hesler delivered the address on behalf of the graduates.

Graduation ceremony, spring 2012

The spring graduation ceremony took place on 1 June. Professor Leo Kaas, Head of Department, welcomed about 14 graduates and 90 guests. This year’s guest speech on the topic of “The German Employment Miracle” was held by Professor Joachim Möller, Director of the Institute for Employment Research of the Federal Employment Agency.

The VEUK award for outstanding academic performance was awarded to:

  • Felix Sebastian Weber (Bachelor of Science in Economics)
  • Niklas Rodi (Diploma in Mathematical Finance)

Kai Duttle (Master of Science in Quantitative Economics) delivered the address on behalf of the graduates.
