Financing

There are no tuition fees for the Doctoral Programme.

Doctoral students enrolled in the programme pay the following contributions each semester:

  • A contribution to the Student Services Seezeit (58 €).
  • An administrative fee for services of the University administration (40 €).

Each year several scholarships from the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Württemberg is available for outstanding participants.

Interested applicants are also encouraged to apply to other institutions for funding. A wide range of public and private foundations offer postgraduate scholarships both in Germany and abroad. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers scholarships and provides a database of scholarship sources on its website . The German Foundation Index and the Donors’ Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities in Germany are useful links to further scholarship sources.

Temporary employment in the Department of Economics, as a teaching assistant on an academic chair or as a research assistant within a research project, is a further possibility of financing.
